If you’ve ever dismissed the idea of stepping into a charity shop, think again! Prospect Hospice is breaking stereotypes with its new initiative, inviting locals to explore their charity shops and challenging them to ‘find it for a fiver.’
Dispelling the misconceptions that charity shops are drab, odorous, and filled with unwanted items, Prospect Hospice is urging individuals to visit their stores each month and spend a mere £5 on items they planned to purchase, supporting the charity’s vital work in providing free end-of-life care and fostering sustainability.

Victoria Canavan, Head of Retail at Prospect Hospice, shared insights into the initiative, stating, “We know money is tight for everyone right now. But that doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy life and treat ourselves. We just might have to think a little differently about it.”
The campaign encourages a shift in spending habits, prompting individuals to redirect £5 of their monthly budget towards a more meaningful cause. Whether it’s finding a thoughtful birthday gift, a unique outfit for Valentine’s Day, or affordable toys for children, Prospect Hospice’s 17 shops offer a diverse range of treasures, many priced at just a fiver.
Victoria encourages the community, stating, “’Find it for a fiver’ encourages our community to rethink their spending habits and redirect £5 of their monthly budget towards a more meaningful cause. Children can also get in on the act with many of our toys priced at £5 or under too.”
With Valentine’s Day approaching, the hospice’s shops boast an array of gifts, including dresses, shirts, shoes, and accessories – all within the budget of a fiver each.
To spread the word and showcase their discoveries, hospice customers are encouraged to share their finds on social media, tagging the hospice and using the hashtag #fiverfinds.
“We can’t wait to see the treasures our community finds,” adds Victoria.
Join the movement, shop sustainably, and make a difference – all for just £5. Every purchase from a Prospect Hospice shop contributes to the charity’s mission of caring for local people and supporting their families, both at the hospice in Wroughton and in homes across the local area.
