Prospect Hospice has officially launched its 18th annual Starlight Walk, inviting the community to come together for a special evening of reflection, remembrance and fundraising this summer.
Taking place on Saturday 27 June 2026, the much-loved event will begin at The Deanery CE Academy in Swindon. Participants can choose between a 10km or 15km route, setting off at 7.30pm for what promises to be a meaningful and uplifting evening.
Along the route, walkers will have the opportunity to pause at a dedicated reflection point. Here, participants can take time to remember loved ones, leave personal messages and hang photographs in their memory.
The walk is open to everyone, bringing together friends, families, colleagues and supporters in a shared show of support for local hospice care.
Early bird tickets are now available for £15 until 31 March and can be purchased online via the hospice’s website.
Supporting local families
Starlight Walk is the flagship fundraising event for Prospect Hospice and plays a vital role in supporting patients and families across the local community. Participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship to help ensure the hospice can continue delivering personalised end-of-life care.
Every pound raised helps the charity provide care, comfort and compassion to those who need it most.
Sarah, Community and Events Fundraiser at Prospect Hospice, said:
“We’re so excited to be launching our 18th Annual Starlight Walk. It’s always such an incredible event, as people from our community come together to celebrate life, remember loved ones and support local families.
“We really hope that even more people will join us this year as we light up the night for hospice care.”
Outstanding care
Prospect Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, free of charge to patients and their families. The charity has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission and relies heavily on public support, with 82 per cent of the £10 million it costs to operate each year raised through donations and fundraising.
With hundreds expected to take part once again, organisers hope this year’s walk will continue its tradition of lighting up the Swindon skyline in support of hospice care.
