Police in Swindon are appealing for witnesses after a robbery took place at a convenience store in Penhill early this morning (24 July).
At around 6.50am, two individuals dressed in black clothing and wearing balaclavas forced their way into the Morrison’s Daily on Penhill Drive. A large quantity of cigarettes was taken from behind the counter before the pair left the scene in a waiting van.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported among the staff who were setting up inside at the time. The store was closed for much of the day as officers continued their investigation, with a view to reopening later in the afternoon once enquiries were complete.
Anyone who may have seen the incident, or who has information that could help officers, is urged to call 101 and quote reference number 54250100345.
