Police Appeal for Witnesses After Woman Struck by Vehicle on Birch Street

Police are urgently seeking witnesses following a disturbing incident on Birch Street, where a woman in her 50s was struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred between 7am and 9am on 25th July, when the victim expressed concern for a dog left in a parked silver car.

According to the police, the woman approached the vehicle, attempting to open the doors in a bid to check on the welfare of the dog inside. Moments later, a man appeared on the scene, shouting at the woman before quickly entering the car. The situation then escalated when the man reversed the vehicle into the woman, knocking her and her walker to the ground.

The victim sustained injuries to her head, side, and leg as a result of the incident. Shockingly, the driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the injured woman without offering any assistance.

Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any relevant information to come forward. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Birch Street area during the time of the incident or who may have dashcam footage that could assist in identifying the driver involved.
