A man has been left in hospital after a violent incident broke out in Swindon’s Old Town during the early hours of this morning.
At approximately 12.45am, emergency services were called to the High Street following reports of a fight involving a large group. The disturbance quickly escalated, resulting in a 32-year-old man being punched in the head. He fell unconscious and received immediate treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he remains under medical care.
A 22-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of assault. He is currently in police custody and is being questioned in connection with the incident.
Wiltshire Police are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the assault or have relevant information that could assist with their investigation.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said:
“We are urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who has any mobile phone footage, to come forward. Even the smallest detail could prove important.”
