Plastic-Free Poppies Unveiled as Remembrance Period Commences in 2023

As the 2023 Remembrance period kicks off, the Royal British Legion (RBL) is initiating its annual fundraising campaign to support veterans and their families.

Accompanying this effort is the introduction of the first redesign of its iconic emblem in a generation. In a significant environmental move, Poppies will now be plastic-free and recyclable.

This year marks a pivotal shift as the traditional flower undergoes a transformation to become eco-friendly. The plastic-free version of the Poppy has been distributed across the UK, but will be sold alongside the existing older plastic version.

Individuals looking to dispose of their unwanted plastic poppies are encouraged to contribute to the recycling initiative by handing them in at their nearest Sainsbury’s supermarket.
