As we hurtle towards December and the season of ‘magical experiences’, it can be hard to know where best to place your hard-earned pounds and precious time off. Gone are the days of the simple shopping centre grotto, now every shop, farm and family attraction offers a different take on that time-old tradition – the visit to Santa!
With our family members under 5 in mind, we think we’ve found the perfect pick this Christmas. Ticking boxes for merry magic, value for money, weather proof plans and overall FUN…
Family-run Hocus Pocus Play sits just outside Fairford and is around 20 minutes drive from North Swindon. Known for their sensory play area, woodland theming and independent cafe throughout the year, they’ve also been making a name for themselves with their calendar of unique family events. From character visits, to hands-on science and musical days, this hidden Cotswolds gem is fast becoming the place to be for families who like fun experiences with a twist!
Now, their Santa sessions are very nearly sold out, but with a little bit of availability left mid-week, we wanted to slip in our recommendation before it’s too late!
With this year’s title, Santa’s Magic Workshop, visitors can expect to arrive at the lakeside location (free parking!) and be greeted by one of the team’s cheery elves, before entering into the enchanted fairytale village with hidden surprises at every turn. Each family will be given a personal appointment to visit Santa himself, whose hidden workshop can be found through a secret door and starlit tunnel!
Once inside, you’ll climb aboard Santa’s sleigh and discover what the elves have been busy making this year. Expect interactivity, surprises and of course…magic!
The sessions are 2-hours long, meaning that little ones will have plenty of time to play in the woodland themed play area too, complete with sensory bubble tubes, air-blown balls, see-saws and spinny things, a roller slide, climbing structures, role-play area and much much more. Crafty kids will also enjoy making a tree decoration to take home!
Speaking of last year’s Christmas experience, early childhood parenting expert Everyday’s Emma Christmas said “Even as an adult I find Hocus Pocus incredible! They think of everything, it even smells like Christmas. My 2 year old was engrossed in last year’s Santa session from start to finish and Santa even sang to him!”
With only mid-week availability remaining, these sessions are going to be perfect for pre-schoolers and with prices starting at just £3.00 for under 6 month olds, it’s also a super sensory-filled option for a baby’s first Christmas.
Visitors will find cosy comfort in the food and drink menu too, bursting with scrummy breakfast, brunch and lunch options including baby-led weaning and allergy-friendly options.
Santa’s Magic Workshop opens its doors from Saturday 14th to Sunday 22nd December, find out more and book your tickets here!
