Swindon-based artisan bakery Pipp & Co is widening its reach into the retail market, bringing a new selection of pastries directly to customers for the first time.
The award-winning bakery has built a loyal following for its doughnuts, all made in Swindon, while also supplying trade and wholesale clients across the South and South West. Alongside its central Bristol café and regular appearances at farmers’ markets, Pipp & Co has quietly developed a much broader range behind the scenes.
Until now, many of its sweet and savoury pastries were reserved exclusively for wholesale customers. That is changing as the business rolls out a new direct-to-customer line-up, beginning with three freshly launched products this January: a butterscotch and pecan knot, a plain croissant and an almond croissant.
The move marks a shift for the bakery, opening up more of its small-batch, handcrafted products to the public. The new pastries will be available online, from Pipp & Co’s market stalls and via its artisan van across the region.
Co-owner Betina Evangelista, who runs the business alongside husband Mario, said the decision followed growing demand from customers keen to try more than just doughnuts.
“This is the first time we’ve expanded our retail range beyond doughnuts and cruffins,” she said. “It feels like a natural next step and the beginning of a new chapter for us.”
All Pipp & Co products are made using natural ingredients, without artificial additives or preservatives. The bakery avoids hydrogenated fats, palm oil and GMOs, sticking firmly to traditional methods and careful production. That approach has already paid off, with the business recently picking up a national food award for one of its vegan doughnuts.
Alongside its expanding pastry offering, Pipp & Co has also moved into breakfast cereals, signalling further diversification for the growing brand.
With more new ranges planned, the Swindon bakery appears set to continue building well beyond its original doughnut roots.
