A persistent Swindon offender has been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after repeatedly targeting local shops.
Mario Youde, 41, of Kingswood Avenue in Park North, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 20 January, where he pleaded guilty to one count of theft and one count of possession of a Class A drug.
The court imposed a community order requiring Youde to complete up to 15 days of rehabilitation activity. In addition, a one-year Criminal Behaviour Order was granted, banning him from entering any Waitrose or Co-Op stores in Swindon.
Wiltshire Police say the order is aimed at preventing further offences and protecting retail staff who have been repeatedly affected.
Swindon Central South Inspector David Tippetts said:
“Youde is a prolific offender who has persistently targeted the same retailers, causing significant financial loss as well as stress and anxiety for the staff who work there.
“This order sends a clear message that this behaviour will not be tolerated. We will continue to seek similar orders against persistent offenders who commit crime and anti-social behaviour across the borough.”
Criminal Behaviour Orders can place restrictions on individuals following a conviction, with breaches carrying the risk of further court action and potential prison sentences.
