Pay and Display Machines Vandalised at Lydiard Park

Several Pay and Display machines at Lydiard Park have fallen victim to vandalism, causing inconvenience for park visitors.

The damage inflicted not only rendered the machines out of order but also resulted in the theft of money from the machines. Swindon Borough Council’s Security team promptly responded to the incident and reported it to the police.

Due to the specialised equipment within the machines, replacement parts had to be ordered.

However, there is currently one working machine available on each side of the park, enabling users to pay using cash. To ensure a smooth parking experience during this time, the council has temporarily suspended the enforcement team visiting the park, meaning no Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) have been issued.

Swindon Borough Council has placed signs on the affected machines, notifying customers of the vandalism and providing alternative payment options. Users can utilise another functioning machine or opt to pay via the convenient PayByPhone service. It’s important to note that customers can pay for parking without needing access to the app. They can simply dial the number displayed on the machine (01793 260452) and complete the payment process over the phone.

The three machines are expected to be fixed and back in use on Friday (14th).
