The Swindonian understands that Ollie Palmer is expected to complete his medical and finally sign a two–year contract with Swindon Town later today, paving the way for him to be available for selection this weekend.
Earlier this week, The Swindonian broke the news that Palmer had agreed terms on a deal with the Robins, though there were understood to be complications surrounding the completion of paperwork with his former club, Wrexham. Those issues have now been resolved, leaving the striker free to finalise his move.
Swindon’s pursuit of a new striker has been well documented, with the need heightened following Harry Smith’s season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained against Barnet. Palmer’s arrival will provide a much-needed boost to Ian Holloway’s attacking options, giving the manager another focal point up front.
In further positive news, The Swindonian understands that defender Ryan Tafazolli has also successfully completed his medical ahead of a permanent transfer from Wycombe Wanderers. The commanding centre-half, a close friend of Palmer, is expected to add leadership and strength to the back line.
