As of midnight Sunday, 17th January, a total of 4,062,501 people have had their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine in the UK a further 452,101 have had both jabs
These figures include more than half of the over-80s and care home residents, Matt Hancock has said in tonight’s press briefing.
It was also confirmed that although people over 80-years-old, care home residents, and NHS and care staff remain at the top of the priority list for the vaccine, over-70s and the clinically extremely vulnerable will be invited to book their jabs from today.
The Government has previously pledged to vaccinate all adults living in the UK by September this year.
According to the JCVI list, after people over the age of 70, priority groups five to nine then cover everybody over the age of 50, and people under the age of 65 who have underlying health conditions which put them at greater risk from Covid-19.
