The Rotary Club of Swindon Old Town presented a number of cheques to local charity organisations at its presentation evening this week at The Masonic Hall.
Every year the club president picks a main charity for the year, usually one that is close to their heart and with this year seeing three Joint Presidents for the first time in the clubs history there were a number of charities that were set to benefit from the years fundraising efforts.
The money was raised at the annual Duck Race on the River Ray, which this year raised in excess of £16,000.
Beneficiaries on the evening included Brighter Futures, who announced they hope to be breaking ground on the new chemotherapy unit for Swindon this October, Prospect Hospice, CALM, Swindon’s Big Breakfast and the Blue Cross.
