Noremarsh Junior School Celebrates Arrival of School Improvement Advisor

In an exciting development for Noremarsh Junior School, education expert Mary Davies MBE graced the schools’ halls, lending her expertise to assess the school’s educational standards.

The visit, which took place late last year, was a comprehensive evaluation covering various aspects such as curriculum quality, student behavior, staff development, and school management.

During her visit, Mrs. Davies engaged with trust leaders, the headteacher, and faculty members. She immersed herself in the school’s dynamic environment, interacting with students, observing classes, and delving into extracurricular activities. A particular focus was placed on the school’s approach to reading, with Mrs. Davies thoroughly examining curriculum strategies and teacher practices.

Her assessment yielded positive insights, noting tangible progress across the curriculum and highlighting systemic strengths in key areas of delivery. Mrs. Davies commended the school’s high expectations for all students, including those with special educational needs, noting swift action taken to implement impactful literacy programs.

Headteacher Hilary MacMeekin expressed pride in the school’s ethos and achievements, saying, “Throughout the day, Mrs Davies saw exemplary behaviour and attitudes of all children that not only reflect the day-to-day life of our school but that of our values and visions. We call this our Noremarsh ABC’s. The visit recognises a huge whole team effort in our commitment to providing the best possible education for all of our children, irrespective of their ability.”

Jane Coley, the new CEO of ALT Trust, lauded the significant strides made by Noremarsh Junior School under the leadership of Hilary MacMeekin and the dedicated staff. “This visit underscores the remarkable improvement witnessed since September,” commented Coley, acknowledging the collaborative effort between the school and the trust.

Mary Davies brings a wealth of experience to her role as a school improvement advisor, with nearly three decades of senior leadership experience, including tenure as a headteacher, MAT CEO, and OFSTED inspector. Her visit signifies a pivotal moment in Noremarsh Junior School’s journey towards educational excellence, affirming its commitment to continuous improvement and student success.
