New Allotment Site to Sprout in Badbury Park, Courtesy of South Swindon Parish Council

South Swindon is set to see the green shoots of community and cultivation grow with the announcement of a brand-new allotment site in Badbury Park. Nestled conveniently off Rainscombe Road, adjacent to the local school and park, this green initiative promises to bolster the spirit of local horticulturists and nature enthusiasts alike.

The South Swindon Parish Council is in the final stages of securing the land transfer from the developer. This addition marks a significant expansion in the council’s stewardship over local green spaces, bringing the total to a thriving 15 allotment sites under its management since 2017.

As residents keenly await the official opening date, the council has outlined a structured approach to the allocation of these coveted plots. Priority will be given in a staged manner, ensuring fair access and maximising community benefit. Initially, new applicants residing within the Parish will be offered tenancies, followed by locals desiring a second plot. Those living beyond the Parish boundaries are not left out, with provisions made for both new and second plot applicants in subsequent phases.
