Swindon residents are urged to brace themselves as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind valid from 06:25 until 22:00 today, Monday 15th April.
A depression moving east just to the north of Scotland is expected to bring a swath of strong winds to much of England, including Swindon and the rest of Wiltshire. Gusts of between 40 and 45 mph are expected inland, with isolated gusts as high as 50 to 55 mph on exposed coasts and near heavier showers. This may lead to some disruption and longer journey times.
While winds are expected to slowly ease through the evening and the first part of Monday night, residents are advised to take precautions. Checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, and amending travel plans if necessary, can help avoid delays.
Preparation is key in coping with potential power cuts. Residents are advised to gather torches, batteries, mobile phone power packs, and other essential items in advance.
Residents are reminded to stay updated with weather forecasts as weather warnings may change quickly. Stay informed and stay safe.
