McDonald’s, which has been closed since March 23rd, has responded to a rumour that its restaurants are set to re-open next month.
A post on the official McDonald’s Facebook and Twitter pages at 6pm Saturday read: “Well, our notifications are going wild tonight – we miss you too. We promise we will update you here as soon as we have confirmed our plans. Stay safe, stay at home and we will see you soon.”

The closure of the fast food restaurants came after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that all pubs, clubs and restaurants should temporarily close in a bid to slow the transmission of Covid-19.
The last day of trading saw McDonald’s restaurants heaving with customers and cars queuing out on to the main roads leading to the towns drive-thrus.
Paul Pomroy announcing the closure was due to minimising social distancing between staff “it has become clear that maintaining safe social distancing whilst operating busy takeaway and Drive Thru restaurants is increasingly difficult and therefore we have taken the decision to close every restaurant in the UK and Ireland by 7pm on Monday 23rd March.”
Rumours have been circulating on a near weekly basis from April 1st that the chain will be reopening soon, however as soon as there is a decision McDonald’s will make an official announcement.
