A new boutique charity shop tucked away in Hughenden Yard has already made a stylish impact on Marlborough’s High Street scene, with more than 500 shoppers stepping inside during its opening days.
Named Survivor, the store is a sophisticated extension of Society Without Abuse (SWA) – a domestic abuse charity rooted in education, early intervention, and prevention. Far from the typical second-hand experience, this boutique offers high-end womenswear, designer labels, and carefully chosen accessories, many of which are brand new or barely worn.
What sets Survivor apart isn’t just its curated rails of fashion-forward finds, but the cause behind the counter. Every purchase – or even visit – helps to fund SWA’s vital work across the region.
Kate Rowland, CEO of SWA, said: “Every shopper who comes through the door is making a difference to ending domestic abuse, whether they buy something or not. The new shop in Marlborough has an impressive collection on sale, including designer brand names. The clothes have been carefully curated for the shop, and we plan to soon also offer eveningwear and bridal pieces too. As our stock is fast-moving, we’d encourage shoppers to regularly pop in and see what’s on offer.”
The shop was officially opened by the Mayor of Marlborough, Councillor Emily Trow, who cut the ribbon and praised the initiative.
“This is a truly worthwhile cause,” she said. “The shop is also looking for volunteers, so any Marlborough residents who would like to give them a hand would be very welcome; volunteering is very rewarding.”
The Survivor shop is now open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and has already become a destination for those who like their retail therapy to come with a purpose. With eveningwear and bridal ranges set to arrive soon, this is a shop worth watching.
