Marlborough Runners to Take on 160-Mile Challenge for Prospect Hospice

Marlborough Running Club is gearing up for an ambitious challenge as they prepare to run the entire length of the Wiltshire Cycleway in support of Prospect Hospice.

Starting from Marlborough High Street on Saturday 13th July, club members will embark on a relay-style run covering 160 miles of Wiltshire’s minor roads and lanes.

The route will weave through picturesque villages including Broad Hinton, Malmesbury, Corsham, Bradford-on-Avon, Longleat, Salisbury, Amesbury, and Great Bedwyn, before returning to Marlborough, aiming to complete the course by Sunday.

Phil Griffiths, a dedicated member of Marlborough Running Club, expressed the team’s motivation for taking on this challenge: “We all have personal connections to Prospect Hospice through family or friends. Our run is a way to ensure that this vital resource remains available to our community in Wiltshire. Providing care during life’s toughest moments is crucial; the running part is the least we can do.”

Jeremy Lune, CEO of Prospect Hospice, extended gratitude to Marlborough Running Club for their initiative: “Each year, Prospect Hospice supports numerous families across Swindon and its surroundings who are navigating difficult journeys. The effort and dedication shown by Marlborough Running Club in organising this event are deeply appreciated. The funds raised will significantly impact the lives of many individuals and their loved ones. Thank you, runners!”

Funds raised from the event will contribute towards crucial services provided by Prospect Hospice, including their inpatient unit and Prospect@Home care service.
