Man dies after Tesla collides with lorry on A419 near Swindon

A man in his 40s has died following a collision on the A419 between Swindon and Cricklade this morning.

The incident happened at around 7.30am on Friday, 31 July, when a grey Tesla Model Y travelling northbound collided with the rear of a Scania lorry which was parked in a layby.

The driver of the Tesla was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and Wiltshire Police said officers’ thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

No other injuries have been reported.

The A419 northbound remains closed while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team carry out their investigation. The closure is in place northbound from the Turnpike junction.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have captured footage on a dash camera, to come forward.
