A 42-year-old man has been charged and remanded in custody following an incident in Upper Stratton.
Armed police were called to an address in Burns Way on Friday morning following a report of a man with a suspected firearm.
A man was arrested at the scene and a firearm was recovered.
Dean Snarey, a resident of Burns Way, has been charged with possession of a firearm while committing a schedule one offence and blackmail.
He has been remanded in custody to attend Swindon Magistrates Court on Monday.
