Man Arrested After Spate of Town Centre Burglaries

A man has been arrested following a series of burglaries at businesses in Swindon town centre.

Wiltshire Police say officers were called shortly after midnight on Wednesday, 29 January, after reports of a break-in at Momo King on Havelock Street. The premises had its door smashed, with alcohol stolen from inside.

Police say the offender later returned to the restaurant and removed the cash till, which contained a large amount of money.

A short time afterwards, a second burglary was reported at Redline Racing in Theatre Square. Entry was forced and items valued at around £2,000 were taken.

Following enquiries, a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of three counts of burglary. He remains in custody at Gablecross police station while further questioning takes place.

Officers are continuing their investigation and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the town centre during the early hours of that morning to come forward.
