Man Arrested After Failing to Stop for Police in Wroughton

A man has been arrested following an incident in Wroughton where a vehicle failed to stop for police on Sunday evening.

Officers were on patrol in a marked police car on Devizes Road shortly before 8pm on 8 February when they saw a vehicle drive through a red traffic light.

Police activated their blue lights and signalled for the driver to pull over, but the vehicle continued, travelling towards Perry Lane before turning into Coventry Close, which is a dead end.

The driver then got out of the vehicle, but officers were able to detain him nearby.

A search of the vehicle was carried out, during which officers discovered cannabis and a large quantity of cash.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, and drug driving.

He was taken to Gablecross custody for questioning and has since been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out.
