Drugs with an estimated street value of around £150,000 have been seized following two successful police raids in Swindon. The warrants, carried out as part of the ongoing community work in Broadgreen, also resulted in two arrests and the recovery of significant sums of cash, high-value jewellery, and designer clothing.
Officers from the Central South Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and the Financial Investigation Team, with the assistance of Police Dog Bracken, executed the raids last Wednesday (22nd January). The warrants targeted a business premises on Manchester Road and a residential property in Cherry Orchard, Highworth, as part of an investigation into drug supply and money laundering.
Sergeant Winter, who is based in Swindon, hailed the operation as a success: “These were two very successful warrants which have seen a significant amount of drugs taken off the streets.
“Beyond the obvious dangers associated with drug supply, these activities bring related crimes such as violence, theft, and anti-social behaviour, which have a deeply negative impact on the community. Broadgreen is home to many young families who are affected by the presence of drug-related criminality, and we are committed to making the area safer.”
The operation is part of the ‘Brighter Broadgreen’ initiative – a multi-agency effort focused on tackling crime, improving public safety, and fostering a better environment for residents.
Sgt Winter added: “Wiltshire Police will continue to work closely with our partners and the people of Broadgreen to eradicate criminal activity from the area. We stand with the community in ensuring that Broadgreen remains a safe, supportive, and close-knit neighbourhood where criminality has no place.”
Anyone with concerns about drug activity in their area is urged to report it to Wiltshire Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
