The Longleat Summer Carnival has returned, bringing a lively mix of attractions and performances to the Wiltshire estate throughout the school holidays.
Running until Sunday 31st August, the event offers a classic fairground feel with a traditional carousel, swing boats and toy vehicle rides dotted around the grounds. Visitors can immerse themselves in a day of entertainment while enjoying the stunning setting of one of the region’s best-known landmarks.
For those looking to try their hand at something new, carnival skill sessions are being held daily. Guests can have a go at balancing on stilts, learning the tightrope, trying out diabolos or even stepping onto a walking globe.
Inside the historic Longleat House, a self-guided tour comes with a twist this summer as a Regency-inspired trail leads visitors through its stately rooms, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the well-loved attraction.
This year also marks a special milestone for Longleat Railway, which celebrates its 60th anniversary. Between Saturday 23rd and Sunday 31st August, the railway will mark the occasion with a week of celebratory touches. Each day, the train will sound a ‘Whistle up’ in tribute to Longleat’s participation in the 200-year anniversary of the modern railway, which was marked on New Year’s Day. Guests can also pick up limited-edition anniversary tickets, while work is under way to shape the station’s flower bed into the railway’s logo.
Adding to the celebrations, WWF will host an educational stall on 29th and 30th July, as well as 3rd August, giving visitors the chance to learn more about their conservation efforts around the world.
