Longleat Invites Fellow Sixty-Year-Olds to Share Diamond Anniversary Celebrations

Longleat is marking a major milestone in 2026 and is inviting members of the public who are celebrating their own 60th birthday to be part of the occasion.

The Wiltshire attraction, which opened its Safari Park in 1966, is offering free entry to anyone turning 60 in April as it celebrates six decades since making history as the world’s first drive-through safari park outside Africa.

When the park first opened, lions roamed the Wiltshire countryside in a move that transformed how visitors experienced wildlife in the UK. Sixty years on, those bold beginnings have grown into one of Britain’s most recognisable visitor attractions.

Today, Longleat is home to more than 120 species from across the globe, many of which are classed as endangered or vulnerable. Conservation and animal welfare remain central to its work, alongside the events and experiences enjoyed by families year after year.

The Safari Park’s official anniversary falls on Easter Sunday, and Longleat will mark the occasion with a special garden party weekend on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 April.

Included with the standard day ticket, visitors can expect live music, traditional garden games and a range of family-friendly entertainment, creating a celebratory feel across the estate.

As part of the diamond anniversary, Longleat is extending a special invitation to those sharing the same milestone birthday.

Scott Ashman, Head of Operations at Longleat, said the idea was a natural fit.

“Turning 60 is a moment worth celebrating, and we realised there are people across the country reaching that milestone at the same time as the Safari Park,” he said.

“We wanted to open the doors and invite them to celebrate with us. We’re offering free entry to anyone turning 60 in April so they can enjoy the day with family and friends and be part of this anniversary weekend.”

Those eligible can claim their free ticket by using the code sixty26, with full details and terms available via the Longleat website.
