In the heart of Swindon, nestled just a stone’s throw away from the train station, lies the Station Industrial Estate – a hub buzzing with local entrepreneurs across diverse businesses.
Among these enterprising ventures stands Mike Allen Services, Wiltshire’s Independent Jaguar Centre, proudly owned by Paul Titheradge. For years, Paul has relied on a trusty Renault van to collect parts and provide essential support to his business. Recently, he contemplated putting the van on the market, seeking a buyer willing to part with a few thousand pounds.

However, fate took an altruistic turn when Paul discovered that a mere 100 yards away, The Swindon Humanitarian Aid Partnership (SHAP) operated their warehouse. Aware of the impactful work undertaken by SHAP, particularly their efforts to send articulated trucks laden with aid to Ukraine, Paul decided to redirect the destiny of his van.
Paul shares his perspective on the decision, stating, “I have followed the wonderful work of SHAP and have seen a dozen or more articulated trucks leaving the estate destined for Ukraine. I am fortunate and don’t need the money from the van, so I contacted Mike and offered the van as a donation.”
Mike Bowden, Chair of SHAP, expressed gratitude for Paul’s generosity, highlighting that it resonates with the overwhelming response received from the local community. The donated Renault van, will soon be filled with crucial medical aid, embarking on a journey deep into Ukraine within the next 10 days. Behind the wheel will be Nataliya and Kelly, two dedicated volunteers integral to SHAP’s humanitarian mission.
Paul Titheradge’s selfless gesture stands as a testament to the community spirit thriving in Swindon, where local businesses like Mike Allen Services actively contribute to broader humanitarian causes.
As the van departs on its mission, it carries not just medical supplies but the collective goodwill of a community rallying together in support of those in need.
