A talented Year 8 pupil from Lawn Manor Academy has raised over £450 for the school’s upcoming dance competition in New York, thanks to her well-organised quiz night that brought together 45 people for an evening of fun, competition, and generosity.
Daisy, a passionate young dancer, not only hosted the event but also designed the quiz herself. She came up with tricky rounds, including general knowledge, movie trivia, a kids’ round, riddles, “What Came First?”, and even a music round that tested participants’ knowledge of popular tunes.

“The quiz was such a fun night, and I’m so happy everyone enjoyed it,” Daisy said. “It was easy to write the quiz, but some of the questions were tricky, especially the music round. People said it went really well, which is good! I’m really excited about going to New York and getting ready – we’re doing street and hip hop styles, which are some of my types of dance.”
The evening also featured a raffle with prizes donated by B&Q, including cash, vouchers, plants, gift sets, and even a skateboard. The fundraising efforts for the trip don’t stop there, with a bake sale and a sponsored walk from Swindon to Marlborough already contributing to the total.
The next event to help raise funds is Lawn Manor Academy’s Spring Fair on Saturday 10 May. The fair promises a wide range of activities, from games and food stalls to a dog show (weather permitting) and live performances, making it an event for the whole family to enjoy.
Head of Dance at Lawn Manor Academy, Natasha Dixon, said: “Daisy is a great example of the determination, ambition, and creativity that our pupils show. The fundraising is going really well, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support of our community. We hope to see many people at the Spring Fair.”
