Lawn Manor Academy is basking in the glow of unprecedented success following their outstanding performance in the Junior Maths Challenge, one of the most demanding mathematics competitions for young minds.
Open to pupils in years seven and eight nationwide, the challenge requires participants to tackle 25 multiple-choice questions within a tight 60-minute timeframe. By drawing upon their classroom learning, students are tasked with demonstrating mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency to conquer the paper.
This year, Lawn Manor Academy proudly entered 47 pupils into the fray, and their efforts yielded remarkable results. Among them, 13 students secured a bronze award, while 6 attained silver, and an impressive 8 clinched the coveted gold.
Notably, Year 7 pupils Joyel and Dale, along with Year 8 students Esther, Myla, Ryan, Travis, Manasvi, and James, emerged as gold awardees, placing them among the top 10% of young mathematicians nationwide. Furthermore, Joyel, Travis, Manasvi, and James have earned the privilege of advancing to the next stage of the competition, the Junior Kangaroo, scheduled for June.
