There is still time to make the most of one of London’s newest summer attractions, with Electric Summer at Battersea Power Station running until Monday, 31 August.
The free-to-enter event has turned the area around the iconic Grade II* listed power station into a summer playground, with roller skating, fairground rides, pétanque, boardwalk games, food, drinks and riverside entertainment.
Electric Summer, powered by Geely Auto UK, has welcomed thousands of visitors since opening in July and is now entering its final week.
At the centre of the action is a roller rink offering sessions for beginners and experienced skaters alike. Equipment is provided, while younger visitors can try the Junior Wheelers sessions and adults can take part in skate school sessions and roller fitness classes.
The rink also gets a musical makeover on Friday evenings, when KISS DJs take over the decks. Recent appearances have included Justin Wilkes, Esi, Jake Thomson and AJ King.
Over at The Coaling Jetty, visitors can try their hand at pétanque while taking in views across the River Thames. The French ball game has become increasingly popular in recent years and courts can be booked in advance.
There is also a 40ft Big Wheel offering views across the London skyline, alongside traditional fairground attractions including dodgems and a wave swinger.
For those who prefer their summer entertainment closer to ground level, the boardwalk has games including Lobster Pot and Blockbuster, while free activities include table tennis, swing ball, bean bag toss and giant chess.
Food and drink are also a major part of the experience. The licensed Boardwalk Bar has a rooftop terrace, while independent traders include Puffin, Naked Chips and Street Dough.
On The Coaling Jetty, Jimmy Garcia is running a waterside bar and eatery serving artisan sandwiches, drinks and T’ART desserts.
Geely Auto UK is also part of the event, with visitors able to explore the company’s latest models, including the new Geely EX2. The interactive experience includes a Geely Arcade-themed stand, while test drives can be booked on site.
There is more to explore beyond Electric Summer, with Battersea Power Station’s wider neighbourhood offering more than 170 shops, restaurants, bars and cafés. Visitors can also take in the Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold exhibition at NEON.
Electric Summer is free to enter, although tickets are required for some attractions.
The roller rink costs from £8 for children aged 10 and under and from £12 for adults, with sessions lasting 45 minutes. Pétanque costs from £11 per adult for a court accommodating up to eight players, while funfair rides start at £4 per person and Big Wheel tickets from £8.
Electric Summer is open daily from 10am to 10pm, including Bank Holiday Monday. The Coaling Jetty opens from noon each day.
With the summer holidays drawing to a close, there is still an opportunity to squeeze in a final day or evening of riverside fun before Electric Summer disappears for another year.
Electric Summer at Battersea Power Station runs until Monday, 31 August. Entry is free.
