Arkell’s Brewery have introduced Jack’s Juicy IPA, a brand-new beer created by Arkell’s Brewing Operative, Jack Bridgman, as part of his brewing apprenticeship.
This modern, hop-forward brew is the creation of Arkell’s Brewing Operative, Jack Bridgman, and it’s already making waves in local pubs.
The beer was officially unveiled at The Moonrakers pub, where Arkell’s Beer Champions and the Chair of Swindon & North Wilts CAMRA branch were among the first to sample the new addition.
Clocking in at 4.5% ABV, Jack’s Juicy IPA is bursting with tropical fruit flavours, thanks to the introduction of Krush – a hop variety never before used at Arkell’s. From the first sip, drinkers can expect a vibrant mix of guava, peach, and citrus notes, all balanced with a smooth malt backbone.
Jack Bridgman, who has been part of the Arkell’s team since 2012, developed the beer as part of his brewing apprenticeship. Tasked with creating a new recipe from scratch, he meticulously planned every element – from malt sugar extraction to hop bitterness levels – ensuring the final product delivered a well-rounded and flavourful pint.
Wanting to craft a beer that blended the qualities of an IPA and a NEIPA (New England IPA), Jack opted for a malt bill combining Maris Otter, Cara Malt, and Wheat Malt. This carefully selected blend allows the juicy hop flavours to take centre stage without being overshadowed.
“Designing this beer has been a massive learning experience,” said Jack. “I wanted to create something fresh, vibrant, and packed with tropical fruit character. Krush hops provided the perfect flavour profile, and once I finalised the recipe, I worked with Alex Arkell to bring it to life as one of this year’s special ales. Seeing it go from concept to cask is an incredible feeling.”
Head Brewer Alex Arkell was full of praise for Jack’s achievement, saying: “We’re incredibly proud of Jack and his dedication to this project.
