If you need an emergency proxy vote for today’s election here is how to do it

Sometimes emergencies happen that stop you doing those day to day things you had planned and there is nothing you can do about it.

Well if you find you are unable to get out to vote today due to a last minute emergency there may be something you can do to ensure your voice is heard.

Apply for an emergency proxy vote.
There are two conditions where you can apply for an emergency proxy vote – in other words, letting someone vote on your behalf.

Your Holiday Starts Now

1. Being called away for work unexpectedly

2. A personal medical emergency

Medical emergencies have to apply to you; it’s not possible to get an emergency proxy if a friend or relative falls ill.

You’re allowed to apply until 5pm.

For the emergency proxy form if you are unexpectedly called away on work business, use this form, and if you have a medical emergency, it’s this form.

Don’t forget, polling stations are open until 10pm this evening – and if you’re in the station, or in a queue outside, at 10pm, you will still be allowed to vote.
