In a recent property search in Park North, police have confiscated over a thousand cannabis-infused gummies and lollipops, revealing a concerning trend in drug distribution disguised as confectionery.
The seizure unfolded as part of a separate investigation, leading to the arrest of a woman in her thirties on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug. She has since been released on bail.
Inspector Winter of Swindon Police expressed dismay over the deceptive appearance of the items, stating, “It is scary how these just look like sweets.” The discovery encompassed a significant cache of sweets in various stages of preparation, including mould trays laden with gummies chilling in refrigeration units and a stash of packaged sweets and lollies containing over 100 grams of cannabis.
Winter continued, “Cannabis edibles can be dangerous, and with bright packaging, they can be particularly appealing to children and young people. We take all offences involving drugs very seriously and would urge people to continue reporting information to us.”
Individuals with concerns regarding drug-related crimes or potential instances of drug exploitation are encouraged to reach out to Swindon Police via the non-emergency hotline at 101.
In emergencies, the public is reminded to dial 999 for immediate assistance.
Additionally, reports can be lodged online, or information can be relayed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
