Housebuilder Announces New Lifeline for Key Workers in Swindon

In a move to support those who serve the community, David Wilson Homes has unveiled a new support package aimed at key workers in Swindon. This initiative underscores the housebuilder’s ongoing commitment to aiding essential workers, with recent figures highlighting that 40% of their home purchases in the last six months have been by key workers.

The comprehensive support package extends financial assistance to a wide array of key workers, including those in the NHS, education sector, Police Force, Fire Service, Ministry of Defence, Environmental Service, National Highways, Transport Scotland & Transport for Wales, Probation Service, Local Authority, Prison Service, RNLI employees and volunteers, and foster carers.

To date, the scheme has benefited over 2,000 key workers across the UK, amounting to approximately £34 million in support.

“Many people may not realise that our financial support scheme is available, nor the range of key workers who are eligible,” comments Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West. “Around 40% of purchases over the last six months have been to key workers, which underscores the importance of promoting our help to encourage more to take advantage of the benefits available. By doing so, we aim to help those who tirelessly serve others and ensure they have the opportunity to own a home in the areas they support.”

Currently, the three-bedroom Ashbury at plot 143 is available with a five percent deposit contribution. Louise added, “We’re dedicated to ensuring more key workers can benefit from our support and secure their dream home in their communities.”

In other news, Clyde Cocking, the site manager at Orchards Rise in Wichelstowe, has been honoured with a prestigious national award for the quality of homes he is building. Clyde has received a Pride in the Job Award from the National House Building Council, often regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry.

These awards celebrate the top site managers across the country, with over 8,000 entrants each year. Judged on strict criteria including technical expertise, health and safety, leadership, and attention to detail, the awards are central to raising standards in the housebuilding industry. They highlight the crucial role site managers play in ensuring that new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites, and to the highest quality standards.
