In a heartfelt gesture of support, father and daughter duo James and Beth Duke from Swindon have crafted a touching Christmas song, “Christmas in the Sky,” to raise funds for Prospect Hospice.
The inspiration for the song stemmed from a challenging period when James Duke, Beth’s father, faced a dire health situation. In 2019, James collapsed at work and was swiftly diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, given a prognosis of mere days to live.
Throughout the challenging journey of chemotherapy, Beth and her brother Owen found solace in their father’s resilience. Beth recalled, “I knew I wanted to raise money for a charity. I love music and singing and wanted to write a song with him.”
The result of this collaboration is the touching and original “Christmas in the Sky.” The songwriting process became a special bonding time for father and daughter, symbolizing hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
Following his recovery, James Duke now works at Prospect Hospice’s distribution centre. Witnessing firsthand the invaluable services provided by the charity for those living with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, the decision to donate all proceeds from their song to Prospect Hospice was a natural one.
Sheryl Crouch, Head of Income at Prospect Hospice, expressed gratitude for the duo’s efforts, acknowledging the significant impact their song will have on supporting families facing life’s most challenging journeys.
Funds raised from “Christmas in the Sky” will contribute to Prospect Hospice’s vital services, including the Inpatient Unit and Prospect@Home care service. To download the song and contribute to this meaningful cause, visit this link or Amazon.
