Haydon Wick Primary School Celebrates Outstanding Ofsted Rating

Haydon Wick Primary School, part of The White Horse Federation, has ended the year on a triumphant note, receiving the highest possible rating in its recent Ofsted inspection. The Swindon school was rated Outstanding across all areas during the inspectors’ visit in June.

The Ofsted report highlighted the school’s strong values and culture, its high expectations for all students, and its exceptional support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The inspectors praised the school’s early years provision, noting that it offers an outstanding start for all children.

Described as “unwavering in its ambition for all pupils to succeed,” the report stated that “the school’s high ambition ensures that pupils receive an outstanding education that equips them well for the future.”

Pupil behaviour was another highlight of the report, with inspectors observing: “Pupils’ behaviour is impeccable. They are exceptionally well-mannered and polite. Pupils demonstrate positive attitudes to their learning, keen to do well and participate positively in lessons.”

The school’s early years provision was particularly commended. Inspectors noted: “Children get off to a flying start in Reception. The school’s aim is for children to become independent and creative learners, and they do… They are well prepared for Year 1.”

Haydon Wick’s dedication to enriching the school experience was also recognised. The report stated: “The school’s work to support pupils’ personal development is exemplary. It goes above and beyond to ensure that pupils have a wide range of opportunities. These activities enrich and extend pupils’ learning beyond the academic.”

Simon Cowley, interim CEO and Director of Education at The White Horse Federation, expressed his delight at the report’s findings. “What fantastic news to finish the year on! We are all absolutely delighted that the Ofsted inspectors recognised what an amazing place Haydon Wick Primary School is.

“All of the staff have worked incredibly hard to ensure their children get the education they need to take full advantage of every opportunity in life. A huge piece of work has been done around creating a culture where no child is left behind. Every child, regardless of background, social, emotional, or educational need, can achieve well and fulfil their potential.

“It’s a wonderful asset for the whole community. Haydon Wick Primary School is an exemplary model of what primary education can, and should be – ambitious, supportive, nurturing and well managed. At The White Horse Federation, we’re very proud that it is part of our community of schools.”
