Grab your glowsticks and don your fanciest dress, because Prospect Hospice’s beloved fundraising event, Starlight Walk, is back and brighter than ever! Scheduled for Saturday, June 29th, at 8:30 pm, this event promises to illuminate Swindon’s streets with the spirit of giving.
Participants can choose between a 10km or 15km walk, starting and finishing at The Deanery CE Academy in Wichelstowe, with a serene stop in Town Gardens, Old Town for moments of reflection. It’s not just a walk; it’s a community coming together to support a cause close to many hearts.

Kelly Douglas, walking in memory of her mum who received compassionate care from Prospect Hospice, shares her heartfelt sentiment: “The Starlight Walk is my tribute to my mum’s memory and a chance to give back to the charity that provided solace during our darkest days. I aim to raise as much as I can for this worthy cause.”
Last year’s event raised over £64,000, thanks to the generosity of participants through registration fees and sponsorships. This year, the charity aims to surpass that milestone, ensuring continued care for those living with terminal illnesses and their families.
Jane Farmery, from Prospect Hospice, expresses gratitude to the Starlight walkers: “The funds raised last year allowed us to expand our care services, providing support to even more patients and families. We’re immensely grateful for the community’s support.”
Early birds can take advantage of discounted entry fees (£12 for 10km, £15 for 15km) until Sunday, March 31st. And just like last year, the hospice will set up a donation station at The Deanery CE Academy, where participants can drop off pre-loved goods to further support the cause.

Paula Illes, excited to walk the 15km route with her son, reflects on the significance of supporting Prospect Hospice: “Though I haven’t needed their services personally, I believe in supporting them now for the future. It’s about uniting as a community to ensure vital care remains accessible to all.”
