Four men have been arrested following a pre-planned police operation in Swindon earlieron Wednesday.
Wiltshire Police confirmed the arrests were made after officers executed a drugs warrant at an address in Galsworthy Close, in the Liden area of the town.
The four suspects were arrested on suspicion of firearms-related offences and remain in police custody.
The operation involved a number of specialist units, including local firearms officers and neighbourhood policing teams. Officers from the Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Unit also provided support.
Inspector Joe Senior said the additional resources were deployed as a precaution.
“I would like to thank the local community for their support while we conducted this operation, which has now been resolved peacefully,” he said.
“In addition to local firearms officers, Wiltshire Police was also supported by specialist firearms officers from the Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Unit. For clarity, it is common practice for forces to utilise the specialist skills those officers provide.
“This was a precautionary measure and there were no reported injuries.”
Police have stressed that the incident has concluded without harm to members of the public.
Inspector Senior added that community information remains vital in tackling both local and organised crime, urging residents to report concerns online or via 101. In an emergency, members of the public should always call 999.
Enquiries remain ongoing.
