In a coordinated operation this morning in Swindon’s Toothill area, five individuals were taken into custody following a concerted effort by local authorities to address drug dealing, antisocial behaviour, and the protection of vulnerable residents.
The operation saw officers execute four simultaneous warrants at properties in Beaulieu Close, while also checking a closure order in Affleck Close.
At the Affleck Close address, four individuals were discovered breaching the closure order, which restricts access to specific persons. All four were promptly arrested and are now in custody. Additionally, a man in his 30s was apprehended at a Beaulieu Close property on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, specifically cannabis. He too remains in custody for further questioning.
In response to these breaches, closure notices have been implemented at the Beaulieu Close addresses as a temporary measure, with further court applications pending for extended closure orders.
PC Dyer, who led the operation, described the morning’s actions as “successful,” emphasising the importance of community involvement in the police’s efforts to tackle crime. “These warrants were undertaken following intelligence and information that we have received from the local community,” PC Dyer stated. “The public really are our eyes and ears – your information is invaluable in enabling us to build a full picture of what is going on on the ground in Swindon.”
The operation is part of a broader initiative aimed at safeguarding vulnerable individuals and curbing the detrimental effects of drug-related crime and antisocial behaviour in the area.
Police are urging residents to continue reporting suspicious activities to assist in maintaining safety and tranquillity in their neighbourhoods.
“Please continue to report it, either via our website or on 101, and we will be sure to act upon it” said PC Dyer.
