Fashion Show to Shine Spotlight on Domestic Abuse Prevention

Swindon is set to combine festive glamour with a powerful message as Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SWA/SDASS) hosts a fundraising fashion show to support their vital preventative and educational programmes. Taking place on Wednesday, 4th December, the event will be held at The Underground at Orbital Retail Park and promises an evening of style and purpose.

The show will feature a stunning collection of donated fashion and accessories available from SWA Survivor, the charity’s shop in The Parade, Swindon. With a focus on Christmas and party wear, attendees can see the latest looks on the catwalk and purchase items, with all proceeds directly funding SWA/SDASS support programmes for children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

Emma Maclennan, CYP Manager at SWA/SDASS, shared her enthusiasm for the event, saying: “The fundraising fashion show is set to be an excellent evening of fun and style. Every penny raised will go directly to fund what we are doing to empower and educate with the vision to create a society without abuse.

“Every item of clothing that will be showcased on the catwalk or available to buy has been donated by generous members of the public to our shop. We’ve also received donations and help from other businesses, including Haydon Wick School, Tesco, and Asda, to make the event a night to remember.”

In addition to the fashion show, the evening will include a raffle with prizes that make ideal Christmas gifts. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of mulled wine or a soft drink and a mince pie, included in the £5 ticket price.

The SWA Fashion Show runs from 6 pm to 8 pm, and tickets can be purchased from the SWA Survivor shop. All proceeds will help ensure the continued support SWA/SDASS provides across the town.

For anyone seeking advice or support related to domestic abuse, SWA’s helpline is available on 01793 610610. Further information about their work can be found at www.swadomesticabuse.co.uk.
