In a fusion of tailoring and automotive craftsmanship, ex-tailor turned heritage car mechanic, Nick Lockey-May, showcased a classic 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina at the prestigious Concours on Savile Row this week.
Nick, who now manages the Haynes Heritage Engineering workshop, was on familiar territory at the event, which combines the elegance of bespoke tailoring with the allure of historic automobiles. His team meticulously restored and serviced the iconic Ferrari, ensuring it was in pristine condition for the high-profile display.

“Having worked in the tailoring industry for six years, I’m delighted to be returning albeit in a different guise,” said Nick. “The concours is such a prestigious event and I didn’t think I’d ever get the chance to be on the red carpet with a car. Our workshop team restore and service many classic vehicles and it’s nice to have the opportunity to showcase some of their work at a high profile event like this.”
The Concours on Savile Row, launched in 2022, has quickly become a key date in both the automotive and bespoke-tailoring calendar. The event features some of the greatest cars ever made, each paired with renowned Savile Row tailors, continuing a long tradition of collaboration between car manufacturers and the craftsmanship of Savile Row.
The two-day event not only showcases magnificent cars but also includes tours of famous tailors, demonstrations of remarkable craftsmanship, talks, and live music.

The 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina, owned by Chris Haynes, Chair of Trustees at Haynes Motor Museum, was a standout at the event. This historic vehicle, the first Ferrari road car ever sold in the UK, was originally owned by former Formula One champion Mike Hawthorn, who struck a deal with Enzo Ferrari to sell Ferrari road cars in Britain.
Haynes Heritage Engineering, with over 35 years’ experience in classic car servicing, repair, and restoration, excels in various engineering disciplines, including bodyshop fabrication and mechanical work, as well as operating an on-site state-of-the-art paintshop. Situated alongside Haynes Motor Museum, the workshop reinvests all its profits into the Museum charity, which is dedicated to educating and inspiring the next generation of automotive engineers and enthusiasts.
