The local charity is gearing up for a thrilling nine-day expedition set to take place from Saturday, 11th to Sunday, 19th October 2025.

Speaking on the significance of the trek, Jo Hyde, clinical lead in the inpatient unit at Prospect Hospice, expressed, “We care for more than 1,700 people every year. Every person that walks through the door is helped by our dedicated supporters in some way.”

She continued, “Working in the hospice has allowed me to witness first-hand the importance of supporting people and their families living with a terminal illness. This trek is not just an adventure; it’s an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of those who need free and compassionate care at the end of their lives as well as their families.”

To participate, there’s a registration fee of £395, covering flights, accommodation, meals, local trek guides, and all necessary permits. Additionally, the hospice requests each participant to raise a minimum of £3,995 in sponsorship, vital for sustaining the charity’s provision of free end-of-life care to individuals in our community.

“We understand that the amount of sponsorship may seem daunting,” noted Sheryl Crouch, head of income. “That’s why we’re launching this bucket list challenge over a year in advance to ensure participants will have ample time to fundraise. Each participant will receive full support and ideas from our dedicated fundraising team.”

The journey includes a challenging five-day trek along the wall, culminating in a visit to Beijing and explorations of two of its major attractions, The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.

Prospect Hospice will host an informal information evening on Wednesday, 15th May at 6.30 pm at the hospice in Wroughton. Attendees will receive comprehensive details about this thrilling opportunity.
