The ages of those arrested range from 12 to 18, all identified as male. Detective Inspector Phillippa Sharpley condemned the attack, particularly highlighting the use of weapons by some of the perpetrators, deeming such violence intolerable.

Sharpley stated, “Our thoughts are very much with the victim, who required hospital treatment. For this to have taken place outside a school, as children were leaving with their parents, is sure to have caused a great deal of concern in the community, however, this is being dealt with robustly and with the full force of the law.”

Appealing for witnesses to come forward, Sharpley emphasised the urgency of obtaining any mobile phone footage or eyewitness accounts of the incident to aid in the investigation.
