Derventio Housing Trust Launches Festive Appeal to Bring Christmas Cheer to Swindon Residents

This Christmas, Derventio Housing Trust is calling on Swindon residents to spread some festive joy to those facing loneliness. The trust, which supports individuals who might otherwise be homeless, has teamed up once again with Colleague Box to launch its Christmas appeal.

The appeal aims to provide a festive gift box filled with Christmassy treats for residents living in Derventio’s supported housing. With each box priced at just £15, the organisation hopes to ensure that no one in their care is forgotten during what can be a particularly difficult time of year.

Derventio, which operates 44 houses in Swindon alone, works with individuals facing mental health challenges and social isolation. Many of its residents are estranged from family members, making Christmas an especially lonely experience.

Sarah Hernandez, Managing Director of Derventio Housing Trust, explained the importance of the appeal: “For many, Christmas is a time of joy and togetherness, but for our residents, it can often feel like the loneliest day of the year. While we can’t fix broken family ties, these small festive boxes show them they are not forgotten. It’s incredible how much a simple gift can mean to someone with so little.”

The partnership with Colleague Box, a corporate gifting company, has once again allowed the appeal to go further, with discounted boxes designed to deliver maximum impact. The treat boxes, brimming with seasonal snacks, are designed to bring a moment of happiness to those who might otherwise go without.

Natalie Bamford, co-founder of Colleague Box, added: “We’re thrilled to work with Derventio again this year. These small gestures can make such a big difference, and we hope Swindon locals will rally behind the appeal. Together, we can bring smiles to the faces of those who need it most this Christmas.”

Derventio Housing Trust operates across five counties, including Wiltshire, and supports over 1,000 people annually. Following last year’s appeal, residents expressed their heartfelt gratitude, with many sharing that receiving a gift made their Christmas less isolating and more special.

Swindon residents are encouraged to step into Santa’s shoes by sponsoring a festive treat box. For £15, you can brighten Christmas for someone who may otherwise spend the day alone.
