The remaining 124 Debenhams stores are set to close after the chain , which has been in administration since April, failed in its last-ditch efforts to secure a rescue deal.
This news, confirmed to employees yesterday morning, means all 12,000 staff are to lose their jobs.
The 242-year-old retailer had already trimmed its store portfolio, including the Swindon store, cutting about 6,500 as it struggled to stay afloat.
Restructuring firm Hilco will start going into stores on Wednesday to begin clearing stock.
