Initially scheduled to last 12 weeks, the refurbishment of the 1930’s Coate Water diving board has finished three weeks ahead of schedule.
The work, which is part of the council’s wider Country Parks Improvement Plan, saw the lower platform concrete blocks which were not part of the original structure, removed, a full environmental clean, a full repaint and the installation of some security grilles to prevent access to the upper levels
Handrails around the platforms were also installed and the flag pole which sits atop the Listed structure has been replaced.
The restoration of the diving board is one of the few projects currently underway as part of the Country Parks Improvement Plan.
A new Garden of Reflection has been created at the side of the lake in place of the old play park and work is also progressing on bringing a new fully-accessible play area to the park.
