Christ Church Eco Fair to Launch Swindon Green Festival

Christ Church in Old Town is set to kick off this year’s Swindon Churches Green Festival with a day of eco-themed activities, family entertainment and community events.

The church’s Eco Fair and Summer Fete will take place on Saturday 6 June between 11am and 3pm, bringing together local organisations, residents and families for a celebration centred around sustainability and nature.

Held within the church grounds, the free event forms the official launch of the wider Swindon Churches Green Festival, which runs across the town from 6 to 14 June.

This year’s festival theme, “Rooted in Faith – Growing a Greener Future”, reflects Christ Church’s continued environmental work as an A Rocha Gold Award Eco Church.

Visitors can expect a mix of traditional summer fete attractions alongside environmentally focused activities, including eco-stalls, plant sales, wildlife groups and a Churchyard Wildlife Count aimed at helping people engage more closely with local nature.

Families will also find games, face painting, eco-crafts, a bouncy castle and community stalls throughout the day.

Food and drink will be available on-site, including refreshments from the church café alongside hot food and a cider bar.

Dog owners are also being encouraged to bring their pets along to try a dedicated dog agility course set up as part of the event.

Organisers say the fair is designed not only to entertain but also to encourage practical conversations around greener living and environmental responsibility.

The wider Green Festival will include workshops, educational sessions and community activities hosted by churches and faith groups across Swindon over the following week.

A festival spokesperson said: “This festival is an invitation to everyone in Swindon — regardless of background — to join us in exploring how we can better care for our common home.”

Entry to the Eco Fair and Summer Fete is free, although some activities may carry a small charge.
