Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS/SWA) has announced a significant step forward in its development with the appointment of Cassie Dawson as the new Training and Business Development Officer.
Cassie, who joined SDASS/SWA in 2023 as a Schools Support Worker, brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles at Nationwide and within the education sector. With 17 years in the corporate world, including a speciality in social investment, Cassie’s experience in both corporate and community-driven roles made her the ideal candidate for this new position. Her previous work, especially in the education sector, had been motivated by a desire to give back to the community, a goal she continues to pursue in her new role at SDASS/SWA.
The charity, which has grown significantly over the past few years, is expanding its reach into the business community and enhancing its fundraising efforts, areas where Cassie’s expertise will make a real impact. She will also be responsible for expanding the charity’s ambassador programme, a key initiative aimed at increasing awareness and support for the cause.
Speaking about her appointment, Cassie said, “For a long time, working for SWA had been a goal of mine as I wanted to give something to the charity that had supported me in the past. This role particularly excites me because I know firsthand how crucial a supportive and flexible employer can be during tough times. Preventing abuse can only be achieved by working together, and I’ve enjoyed my time working with children and young people. Educating them about healthy relationships from an early age is key. We also recognise the role employers play in supporting employees and spotting signs of abuse, as businesses can have a direct impact on societal change.”
Interim CEO of SDASS/SWA, Kate Rowland, expressed her confidence in Cassie’s ability to drive forward the charity’s mission. “Cassie’s unique blend of corporate and social investment experience, combined with her passion for the cause, makes her the perfect fit for this role. As we aim to expand our work with businesses locally and nationally, Cassie will undoubtedly play a key part in helping us achieve our vision of a society without abuse.”
