Charity Auction Raises Over £8,500 to Support Swindon’s Young People Affected by Domestic Abuse

A dazzling online auction has helped Society Without Abuse (SWA) mark its 50th anniversary in unforgettable style – raising over £8,500 to fund vital support for children and young people across Swindon and Wiltshire affected by domestic abuse.

The ’50 For 50′ charity auction, launched to celebrate five decades of the organisation’s life-changing work, attracted generous donations from across the region, including a mother of pearl, diamond-encrusted watch from Deacon’s, artwork by the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, private flight experiences, VIP gig tickets and exclusive activities that money simply can’t buy.

The success of the auction means that SWA’s Children and Young People’s Team can continue to deliver trauma-informed support programmes in schools and the wider community. In real terms, the money raised could fund an eight-week recovery programme for up to 43 children or extend the charity’s reach to thousands more through its HOPE Programme – designed to educate children and teachers on the building blocks of healthy, respectful relationships.

Kate Rowland, CEO of SWA, said:

“The auction was incredibly exciting, especially in those final moments when the bids kept coming. We’re so grateful to every individual and organisation who either donated a prize or placed a bid – the funds raised will have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people in our area.”

SWA’s support extends far beyond recovery. Their team works closely with schools to equip the next generation with knowledge, understanding and confidence – helping to break the cycle of abuse and build a future where positive relationships are the norm, not the exception.
