Maybe you have started doing jigsaw puzzles, knitting or another arts and crafty type past time.
Swindon based WH Smith were among the retailers reporting a surge in the sales of board games and jigsaw puzzles which have made a comeback whilst people look for ways to fill the hours stuck at home.
Early on in the pandemic, research firm NPD also reported that Monopoly, Cluedo, Scrabble and card games UNO and Dobble were in the top 10 sellers and there was even better news for national retailer Games Workshop.
Whilst tabletop gamers have been stuck at home they have been busy fighting bloodthirsty wars from the safety of their bedroom, kitchen table or maybe even the garden shed.
Games Workshop, which sells fantasy miniatures and toy soldiers, sold nearly £187m of games, figurines and paints in the six months to the end of November, up £38m on the year before, and profits were up more than 50% to £92m – a move that Kevin Rountree, Games Workshop’s chief executive called a “cracking performance”.
With all of its 529 stores closing during the various lockdown periods, the company’s online sales were up 87%
